The Jamaica Plain Historical Society has the BEST website of a local historical society in the Commonwealth, quite probably in the country and perhaps, even the world. The JPHS does a set of walking tours throughout the summer and does lectures throughout the rest of the year. It's a volunteer-run membership organization.

This year, almost 900 high school and college students from Boston will come to Bottom Line to receive comprehensive one-on-one guidance and support as they get in to college, graduate, and go far in life. Most of these students come from low-income families, almost all of them are first-generation college students, and almost half of them are recent immigrants to the United States. National statistics will tell you that most of these students will never go to college, and of those that do, most will drop out. But, with Bottom Line’s support 98% of our high school seniors get accepted to at least one college, and roughly 80% of our college students graduate in six years or less.
Bottom Line has been helping disadvantaged youth realize their dreams of a college education since 1997. In that time, we have helped thousands of students improve their lives and build stronger communities as role models, leaders, parents and friends.
