The building from 138-142 South Street suffered a fire in March of 2006. While the exterior of the store fronts has been finished, the owner Nick Skourtis reported to the Boston Globe in December 2007 that work continues on the interior - with expected completion in 2008. It's not clear what will occupy this space (former businesses relocated).

The storefront at 146 (formerly Botanica SA) is vacant (January 2008).

This popular vegan house of pizza and subs, with a location called TJ Scallywaggle's currently in Allston, will hit Jamaica Plain's South Street in early September 2008.

Named for an Irish ship, The Jeannie Johnston is a great neighborhood bar. They've got your standard fare: burgers, sandwiches, wings, etc and a good selection of beverages for your enjoyment. Trivia is played on Wednesdays and Karaoke is sung on Saturdays.
